CAMPBELL TRAVIS

From strategic intent to working reality.

Business and technology leadership experience, grounded in the pressures people carry while making change work.

I have often understood what a business was trying to achieve while being close enough to see how different the same change felt to the people expected to deliver it.

You may agree with the direction but see problems in how it is landing. You may be accountable for the outcome without controlling every decision, resource or priority around it. Forging Change, FORGE and the Change Readiness Compass grew from that experience.

The experience behind the work

I have spent more than 30 years across business and technology environments where progress depends on people with different priorities moving in the same direction.

My work has included developing new routes to market, building capability, entering markets and influencing outcomes across teams I did not always control. The real pressure usually appeared between the decision and its delivery: missing answers, competing priorities and leaders expected to protect performance while helping people adapt.

I saw capable load-bearing leaders absorb that ambiguity. Because they kept work moving, the organisation could underestimate the pressure involved. I saw business owners carry the same practical load alongside financial risk and customer expectations.

I hold a Bachelor of Business in Marketing and an MBAX with a focus on change from UNSW. FORGE began not as a theory placed over working life, but with a question: why can a change that makes sense still become so difficult for the people expected to deliver it?

What if people’s reactions are information, not resistance?

Experienced leaders often recognise the position but lack useful language for it. They need more than a reminder that communication matters. They need a credible way to understand what they are seeing and where their leadership can make a difference.

The gap between what people are being asked to carry and the organisation’s ability to support them is often where the most useful conversation begins. FORGE is my attempt to make that conversation more useful.

Why the metaphor became literal

I completed a three-day forging course and made my own Damascus-steel knives. The experience reinforced the central idea: pressure can create movement, but applied without understanding it can also create fatigue, hidden weakness or fracture.

Who I work with

Today, I use that experience with load-bearing leaders, business owners, executive sponsors and leadership teams dealing with technology implementation, AI adoption and organisational pressure—the situations in which the distance between a sound business response and workable delivery becomes hardest to ignore.

My background includes building routes to market, developing organisational capability, entering new markets and aligning teams and commercial partners around shared outcomes. That experience keeps the work grounded in the realities of performance, customers, competing priorities and influence without complete authority.

Tell me what is changing

You do not need a polished diagnosis. Tell me what the organisation is trying to achieve, who is expected to make it work and where the pressure is showing up. I will tell you whether one of the FORGE workshops looks like a useful starting point.
